"Meal ruined - No potatoes"

The Annual Dinner of the Coventry Amateur Radio Society ruined.

I am one of the organisers involved with this event, at about 6 PM a message was received that there were no potatoes for the meal which had been booked some weeks before. A decision was made to book elsewhere. We did visit and speak with people there we were told that they had held potatoes back for us, but it appeared as if other people who had also booked may have been sent away for the same reason.

When staff were questioned about sourcing potatoes from the local supermarket we were told this was prohibited by the rules of the company. The whole episode a complete shambles, we should have cancelled the week earlier when alarm bells rang due to closure of the kitchen due to some temperature problem, either cooking or food storage.

Just awful.
