Warwickshire
Prior to the local government re-organisation that took place in 1974 Coventry had historically been part of Warwickshire. Coventry then became part of the metropolitan county of West Midlands, along with neighbouring Solihull, and Birmingham.
Apart from Coventry's Eastern edge which links to Solihull, Coventry is surrounded by Warwickshire. A number of people would like to see Coventry remerge with Warwickshire, a move which would dramatically increase Warwickshire's population.
